Title Page Importance

It is important, when you do a theme album, to create a title page. A title page sets the theme for the album and often is the only place where dates are kept.  Since this album is all about this years Christmas season I used the typical Christmas colours to create the title page. The embellishments are from all sources. This style of title page allows you to use bits and pieces of whatever you have left over from previous years. You just need to collect all the embellishments you want to use onto the corner of the page. I usually just have them float over the page for placement before I commit them permanently.

Quote of the Week - December 27, 2008

All of Canada was blanketed under snow (some more than others) this Christmas. It was the first time in 37 years that all of Canada celebrated a white Christmas. I found it fitting to share a quote about those little snowflakes. With the amount that fell at my house, the entire year will be happy and peaceful, I hope your season and year bring you peace and happiness too. Click on the photo for an enlarged view.

Twelve Days of Christmas *Day 12*

I always like to create a gift with some originality and personal memories attached to it. My parents have loved getting Calendars in the past that I have scrapbooked for them, so this year I decided to create a digital CD case Calendar. I downloaded the blank calendar pages from here. I added frames around the photographs and some designs along the bottom border with some brushes that I love. Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 11

This wall hanging was a fun and easy project. I used 3 pieces of chipboard, a bunch of christmas papers and embellishments, eyelets and ribbon. I just love to use my scrapstuff to make little home decor things to display around my home. This one hangs in my front porch along with my garlands and other fun christmas decorations.

 

Christmas Album in Progress

This is a new for me....to record the happenings of the Christmas Season all in one album. This is my Christmas Journal and you can watch it take shape as I go along.

First you need to collect all the supplies. I have chosen Wassail papers by Basic Grey. I have the 12 x 12 kit andthe 6 x 6 pad of the papers. I also have my collection of buttons and ribbons and my collection of Christmas embellishments that I couldn't live without and have collected over the years. For the album I have chosen a 8 x 8 album with the slide in pages. I purchased two sets of those. I think this should be enough. I also have bazzill cardstock in my favourite red and white colours.  You can choose any album and colour combination of supplies you like.  I am an avid fan of the red and white combo.

Next you need to cut down all the papers of the 12 x 12 kit to 8 x 8 to fit the sleeves of the album. Save all the extra pieces to embellish the other pages.

 Following this...I started by making the cover of the album look a little more special. I used some Yellow Bicycle rubons and some letter stickers.

Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 10

Enjoy this holiday season with a little Christmas Cheer!  I made this box with patterned paper from Little Yellow Bicycle and My Mind's Eye. 

Just fill the box with candy, add some ribbon and give them as a gift of thanks.

Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 9

On the 9th day of Christmas, I bring you a handmade Christmas carols book. :) I created this book for my husband and daughter who LOVE to sing! The album is by 7 Gypsies, and I printed out our favourite Christmas songs and lyrics on the cardstock pages. The patterned papers, ribbons and letter stickers are from the Fa La La collection by Making Memories, available at POTP. And the wood ornament, which was inked and glittered, is from Kaiser Kraft also available at POTP.

12 Days Of Christmas ~ Day 8

Well, here we are at the eighth day already and I feel like time is whizzing by! I made this ornament to commemorate Scarlett's first Christmas using scraps and leftovers I had in my stash. The acrylic background is actually a spare page from an album that I didn't use- just the right size for a mini-layout/ornament. I'm so inspired I might have to go get another album and split the whole thing up and make one of these for each of the grandparents too! Happy Creating!

12 Days of Christmas ~ Day 7

Hello everyone! I'm posting as Sandra today but it's really me- Yolanda...

I'm not sure what my girls are more excited about... the fact that Christmas is fast approaching or that we finally have a fireplace for old St. Nick! I made this garland with papers from this month's wonderful kit- only one sheet of 12 x 12 kraft and a half a sheet of 2 different pieces of patterned paper!

(Cut the kraft into 4 pieces at 4.5" x 6", then the remaining 2 pieces are for the hearts)

Once all the letters, pieces and hearts are cut out, I rubbed ink around all the edges with an old rag. I assembled each "flag" then set them in a box lined with wax paper. Then, I sprayed them all with adhesive (I used photo mount) and dusted them with glitter to make them look like those great glittery vintage decorations. Once they were all dry, I spaced them out evenly on my counter, then laid a ribbon across the top and folded over the top scalloped piece and fastened it with a staple.

This just shows that you can make some great decorations with not a whole lot of supplies! Add some more ribbons- skip the glitter- add some primas- make it yours!
